I'm a native of Southern California and Lake Tahoe is about an eight hour drive from my neck of the woods. When I was a child, our family would drive up and stay a week almost every other year for our summer vacation getaway. We would camp down at the South Shore at Camp Richardson. It was great fun for a child who lived in the city. We walked to the beach during the day and would come back and BBQ great food in the late afternoon. The weather was always perfect. After roasting marshmallows by the camp fire we would go to bed exhausted, yet eager to wake up in the morning and do it all over again.

As an adult I have traveled to Lake Tahoe several times, and this past summer I had the pleasure of taking my family, all four kids and hubby, to Lake Tahoe. This time we stayed in a cabin rental and it was a wonderful experience. We took the kids to the Truckee River and we went on several beach excursions. One day we traveled to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and on another day we drove down to the South Shore. My childhood memories of Lake Tahoe are happy and comforting. Now as an adult I am sharing that love for Lake Tahoe with my kids.
